GDC Releases from Rabun Sentences

A person sentenced to state time from Rabun County may leave the Rabun County Detention Center through a transfer to GDC. The Rabun court file remains useful for the conviction and sentence imposed, while GDC records show how the state custodial term was administered. Neither should be substituted for the other.

Rabun Release Supervision Route

Parole is conditional release from a prison sentence under board authority. Probation is court-ordered supervision and does not necessarily follow a prison term. GDC lists exclusions that include death sentences, sentences of two years or less, non-parole-eligible or minimum-mandatory offenses, and life sentences.

GDC Detainers After Rabun

Rabun's jail materials note that holds and added warrants can change a local release. The jail also publishes quarterly links connected with criminal-alien reporting. Those facts do not establish that a named person entered ICE custody. They do establish the need to distinguish release from transfer. A person moved from Rabun to GDC remains confined, and a later GDC release can still be affected by another jurisdiction.
