The old Interop destination now states that the website was removed at the sheriff's request. That is why neither a current name nor a missing name is enough. The released-person inquiry must move to the official record that outlasts the live roster.
Identifiers matter at each step. A full legal name, date of birth, approximate booking date, arresting agency, and court case number can separate similar records. When a family member only knows a nickname, the court calendar or arrest record may supply the filed name needed for a sheriff or GDC query. Keep the booking event and the later sentence event separate, since one arrest can lead to several court entries and more than one custody agency.
A verbal answer can help with an immediate pickup question, but a written record is stronger when the reason for release or transfer matters. Ask whether Rabun custody ended, whether another agency took custody, and which agency received the person. Those three questions prevent “released” from being read as “free in the community” when the actual event was transport to another jail or prison.

The official GDC query form also links to parole or pardon information. Maximum Release Date and Tentative Parole Month are state-prison terms. A TPM is conditional, not a final parole decision.

Rabun's jail guidance distinguishes property, transfer-property, cash, and bonding-company bonds. Property owners must appear with identification, and bonds over $10,000 require proof of equity. Current property taxes must be paid. A transfer property bond begins with the sheriff in the county where the property lies, then arrives in Rabun in a sealed envelope.
Cash bond requires the exact amount. The county also lists a $20 bond fee payable in correct cash. A bond release means the person leaves jail under the court's terms while the case continues. It does not mean the charge was dismissed or the sentence completed.
Getting Home After Rabun Release
The sheriff says most released inmates can make a phone call to arrange transportation. That call comes after lawful release processing, and a hold or warrant may redirect the person instead. Family and friends should confirm the release before traveling to the detention center.
Rabun County Dial-A-Ride is available to county residents on weekdays and asks for 24 to 48 hours of advance planning when possible. Its listed Rabun County round-trip fare is $6. It is public demand-response transportation, not a jail shuttle or release-confirmation service.
Property After Rabun Release
Rabun's JailATM instructions identify the detention center's family-facing account system and lobby kiosk, but account deposits are not release fees. Questions about personal property or remaining funds should go to jail staff. For a state institutional release, Georgia correctional rules separately address possible clothing, a limited gratuity, transportation, and unclaimed property.
Those state rules do not promise the same items in a Rabun County bond release. The custody agency and release type control the process.
Rabun Detainers and Transfers
Rabun publishes links to Georgia Criminal Alien Track and Report Act quarterly reports.
